Back in the day when humans didn’t have the ability to build shelter, the onset of rain would see them scurrying to the nearest cave. A modern variant on this idea is Alux – a restaurant that is housed in a cave. Diners can marvel at the beautiful rock formations while sipping wine and tucking into a burrito, safe from the weather outside. Find Alux on Avenue Juarez 217.

La Taberna

Playing a spot of billiards is the perfect way to while away a rainy afternoon. La Taberna, on 10th Avenue, has two tables and friendly locals who are always happy to play visitors.

Yoga by the Way

Yoga is a great way to both exercise and relax. Yoga by the Way offers classes for both beginners and experienced practitioners in its well-equipped studios. Find it on Calle 26.

5th Avenue

Stretching over 3 kilometres, 5th Avenue is Playa del Carmen’s main shopping street. While there’s plenty to entertain shoppers on a sunny day, the wide variety of indoor attractions make it the perfect antidote to bad weather. Most shops stay open well into the evening, but shut for a few hours in the middle of the day.

Atomic Internet Café

When the rain comes down, it provides the perfect chance to email loved ones or catch up with a date on jazzedfreedating.co.uk and make plans for when you return. The Atomic Internet Café charges 1.5 pesos per minute and is situated on the corner of 8th Street and 5th Avenue.

Catch a film at the three-screen cinema in Playa del Carmen. Cinepolis is located on Avenida 10 between Calle 8 and 10.
