Nightlife

22nd of October 2014

Playa del Carmen is a fast-growing city that attracts tourists from different countries around the world with its excellent beaches and pulsating nightlife. Nightlife in this city is lively as it is one of the most popular destinations for the North American spring break party crowds. There are energetic nightclubs and relaxing bars that offer great music and wild salsa dancing. Although not as wild as the nightlife in neighboring Cancun, Playa del Carmen offers a bustling nightlife.

The nightlife in the city is concentrated around Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue), apparently a never ending street. At night, it transforms into an entertainment world that caters for different styles and tastes. Young or old, locals or foreigners, whether you want to relax or party hard, there is something for everyone. The bars and clubs along 5th Avenue close early, but the ones along the 8th, 10th, and 12th streets offer great entertainment until the sun goes up.

The beach is lined with some great bars where you can relax and have a nice drink anytime you want. Dance the night away on the powdery sand to the music ranging from Caribbean reggae to electronic. Playa del Carmen has a bohemian feel with a nice mix of Mexicans and foreigners. Many restaurants impeccably transform into clubs at night after dinner hours.

When partying the night out, the dress code in the city is still casual. You can dress up or down depending on where you are going. Remember that some clubs and bars strictly impose dress codes. Some establishments do not allow guests who are wearing shorts or sandals.
